We have now finished filming the first scene of or music video. The scene was shot in Jermaines house and in an alley way near by. We didn't come across any problems while filming as we knew exactly what we were going to film and what angles we were going to use.
We first started filming in the living room, we took a shot of Jermaine from behind, sitting on the sofa watching a music video. We then shot Jermaine watching the TV from a different angle, where the camera was facing him, and his phone rings. We then did a close up of his phone ringing, which shows that it is Michael ringing. Then we shot Jermaine having the conversation with Michael.
We then went outside to film Michaels scene. We first had an establishing shot, which included him walking down the alleyway. He then stops just before the camera and calls Jermaine.
After we had finished this part of the filming we went back to college and edited the footage. We found a few problems trying to save the work but managed to get it sorted.

Locations
For the locations of our music video we picked places around Manchester which we believed would add to the effect of the song.
We used Jermaines house to film the opening scene of our video. In this scene Jermaine gets a phone call from Michael to say that one of his friends, Ivor, has dies. The two arrange to meet, so Jermaine goes upstairs, gets changed and thats when the music kicks in.

The next location we use is a alleyway near Jermaines house, this is not noticeable in the scene however. This is where Michael has his phone conversation with Jermaine explaining that Ivor is dead. This shot starts with Michael walking down the alley then taking out his phone and calling Jermaine.

For some of our performance shots we will be filming on Hulme Bridge. In these shots Michael and Jermaine will be lip syncing to the song. At this location we will be using numerous camera angles.

Costumes
As a group we have have decided on the clothing/costumes for our music video...

To relate to the urban theme of our music video, Mike and Jermaine will be wearing dark hooded clothing. This also relates relates to part of the song lyrics, "black hoody, black creps and the hat down low". We feel that the hooded clothing defines urban teenagers in todays society. Teenagers wearing dark clothing, predominantly hooded, are seen as a threat to most people. This is because it is stereotyped to be worn for a state of dominance and intimidation.
Jermaine will be wearing black, while Mike will be wearing purple.

Analysis of a music video - Tinie Tempah- Tears
This video has a number of similarities to our music video.
For our beginning shots we have a bedroom scene where Jermaine receives a phone call explaining that one of his friends has died. In the Tinie Tempah video they also begin with a talking scene. Tinie Tempah is having a conversation with his girlfriend explaining that they should see other people. Throughout our video we are going to have a performance, Michael and Jermaine are going to be stood on Hulme Bridge preforming to the camera. In the Tinie Tempah video there is also performance. He is performing next to tall buildings. In the video there is an equal amount of performance and narrative, the video contains shots of Tinie at a party and a woman's apartment but also him performing. This video was shot in London which adds to the professional look of it.
At the beginning of our music video we are going to be doing a close up of Jermaine' face when he gets the bad news about his friend. The "Tears" video also has a similar shot when he is talking to his girlfriend. These show emotion. When Michael and Jermaine are performing on the bridge there will be establishing shots of them and the locations around them. This is similar to the Tinie tempah video as when he is performing it is a shot of him and also the buildings surrounding him. Throughout the video there are a number of shots including close ups, mid shots and establishing shots. The video also contains tracking shots of when Tinie is in the car with his girlfriend. They also use green screen when they crash the car, this makes the crash look a lot more realistic as the effects work well. Also the lip syncing in this video is perfect, which makes it look even more professional.
The clothes the men wear in the video is quite casual, they are wearing shirts and jeans most of the time. While the females in the video are more dressed up, because they are at a party they are mostly wearing dresses. The lighting in this video is quite bright which shows that the video was mainly shot in the day time. The lighting adds to the mood of the video, although the song is about a man basically breaking up with a women it has a brighter side as he has found someone new who he gets along with.
The camera work used in this makes it a particularly effective music video, the type of camera used makes the image look crisp and perfect which makes the video more appealing. Also the illustrative narrative of the video makes you want to keep watching the video as it is interesting.
Both our video and Tinie Tempah' are of the same genre, which is UK Garage.
Although the instrumentals are significantly different they are both of the same genre.
Both videos have similar feelings. They are not happy with there lives at that moment. In our video "On the Low" the storyline behind the song is two teenage males being trapped in an environment which they would like to escape. The Tinie Tempah video has an illustrative narrative about a male being trapped but this time in a relationship, he has broken up with his girlfriend but although he feels sad he knows he has to get out of it. In the video he also meets a new woman at a party who he can see himself having a future with. Both videos emphasise wanting and striving towards a better future.

As a group we were all interested in similar music. This made it easier for us to cooperate and develop ideas about the type of music video we are going to produce.
As a group we first came up with the idea to do a video similar to Tears by Tinie Tempah.
Due to us liking music of the same genre, it was easy for us to then decide on initial ideas we could produce in our music video.
We looked at the music video, Tears, and provisionally analyzed the type of aspects in it.
We have come up with initials ideas of how we can interpret these into our own:
- The basis of it would include a boy having to make his mind up to save his relationship after cheating with another girl.
- It would include a linear narrative storyline.
- Relating to the Tears video, the shots would predominantly include location and close up shots of the girl and the boy
- Flashbacks showing the boy cheating
- Use of bedroom shots showing the couple together
- Pink and blue colour filters
- Shots of love notes on paper and texting
- Slower editing to show emotion
- Use of fades to show the boy with different girls in different places
